Experience the Wadden Sea, the National Park and our world heritage at its most generous! Since the Middle Ages, oysters have been shucked in the Wadden Sea, from 1759 they were packed and stored in the oyster warehouse at Kiers Gård in Højer before being shipped to the Russian court, among others. In recent years, Pacific oysters have taken over the banks of the Wadden Sea.

Our experienced nature guides take you out to the oyster beds at low tide where we pick all the oysters we can eat. Eating Pacific oysters straight from nature's larder is an unforgettable experience. We also pick plenty of oysters to take home to Højergård.

From the oyster beds, it's back to Højergård, where you will learn how to open, prepare and eat oysters in exciting and tasty ways in the kitchen or over an open fire with a dedicated food guide. You are also welcome to take oysters home with you. This is always at your own risk.

Return to Højergård by bus.
Oyster event with an experienced food guide, prepare and eat oysters in the kitchen or over an open fire at Højergård.

DRESSING: Warm and practical clothing, rain trousers and preferably long-shafted rubber boots.

BRING: A bucket to pick oysters in and possibly your own oyster knife.

ATTENTION: We harvest oysters in the cleanest part of the Wadden Sea. Eating oysters is always at your own risk.
