RESPONSIBILITY

We focus on several areas where we work with the environment and responsibility in our daily lives. Some you will experience as part of your stay with us, others are integrated into our operations.

We do not use irrigation

Our plants are adapted to our weather and climate, and we only water flowerbeds in the evening/morning. At Nørre Sødam, we only water with water from the pond. This saves drinking water and protects groundwater.

We ensure that energy is used responsibly

We use 100 % renewable electricity from wind turbines and manage heating and lighting to keep consumption down. The temperature in the rooms never exceeds 22 degrees, and during periods when the rooms are not in use, it is lowered to 18 degrees in our large halls. At Nørre Sødam, we use geothermal heating, and all lighting is energy-efficient LED.

We use eco-labelled products

We buy cleaning products with the EU Ecolabel or the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, among other things, because they are more environmentally friendly and healthier for the staff, and they work excellently, by the way. If you are not already using eco-labelled cleaning products, we recommend giving them a try.

We prioritise local produce

It's part of our DNA to prioritise local food and suppliers, as it reduces transport and supports the local community. You can support the local area by buying local food and products to take home.

At least 15% of our food is organic

We aim to ensure that at least 15 % of our food is organic, and we are continually increasing this proportion where quality and price are compatible. We prioritise local suppliers and products with eco-labels such as the EU Flower, the Swan and the Ø-mark. You can help by choosing dishes made with local and seasonal ingredients when you eat out in the area.

We do not use small portion packs for jam and shampoo

To avoid unnecessary waste, we use dispensers for toiletries and only serve tap water. We buy in bulk and concentrated cleaning agents, which are mixed on-site to save packaging.

We are limiting laundry

To avoid unnecessary washing, we do not change bed linen and towels during your stay – unless you request otherwise. This saves water, energy, and detergent, and helps the environment. If you are staying for several days, you can simply hang your towel up to be reused.

We use eco-friendly detergents

All our detergents have the EU Ecolabel or the Nordic Swan, and we wash at low temperatures when possible.

We look after nature

All our outdoor areas are managed without the use of pesticides or fertilisers. Weeds are controlled using steam, and we designate areas as “wild by design” to promote biodiversity.

We are combating invasive species

We actively work to prevent and combat invasive plant species, instead using native species that benefit our local insects and birds.
